SUGA Chairman Dr C. H. Ng Receives
“Hong Kong Electronics Industry Outstanding Achievement Award” from Hong Kong Electronics Industry Council

Suga International Holdings Limited (“SUGA”/the “Group”) (stock code: 912) announced that Dr. C. H. Ng, Chairman of the Group, has received the “Hong Kong Electronics Industry Outstanding Achievement Award” from the Hong Kong Electronics Industry Council (HKEIC) in recognition of his active promotion of the development of the electronics industry and his substantial contributions to the Hong Kong economy and the local electronics industry.

Dr. C. H. Ng formerly served as the Chairman of HKEIC from 2009 to 2015, and has been the Chairman of the Hong Kong Electronic Industries Association (HKEIA) since 2015. From both positions, he has actively promoted the development of the electronics industry by arranging various seminars and visits for his fellow members. Apart from information exchanges, Dr. Ng has also regularly organized activities with other local trade associations to encourage business cooperation. To promote Hong Kong’s electronics industry to the outside markets, every year he leads a delegation to the Asian Electronics Forum and the World Electronics Forum where members take the opportunity to give presentations. Over the past couple of years, Dr. Ng has also seized on opportunities arising from the Belt and Road Initiative, leading delegations to visit strategic locations in order to understand and build relevant connections. Last year, he signed a framework agreement with the Guangdong-Guangxi Cooperation Joint Experimental Area which allows HKEIA members to explore business opportunities in the area. Aside from business pursuits, Dr. Ng has been actively supporting electronic engineering education. In addition to making regular donations, he has been serving as an advisor in engineering at various universities in Hong Kong and mainland China. To encourage innovation and technology development, Dr. Ng has in recent years made investments in certain technology start-ups, and is also a partner of an angel fund that primarily invests in Hong Kong and mainland China companies.

Dr. C. H. Ng, Chairman of SUGA, said, “I am deeply honored and humbled as well as highly encouraged with this award from the Hong Kong Electronics Industry Council. Last year, thanks to the trust and support from various sectors, I had the privilege to represent Hong Kong and attend the World Electronics Forum in France. The trip was fruitful as I had the chance to learn more about the latest technological developments and future economic development directions and also exchange views and gain insights from industry leaders from different countries. In recent years the electronics industry has accounted for more than 65% of Hong Kong’s total exports. Innovation and technology are the main factors driving the growth of the industry and these factors also have a major impact on Hong Kong’s economic growth as a whole. Looking ahead, guided by the spirit of diversification and innovation, I will continue to enhance the technological competitiveness and hence the competitive advantages of the industry, and cooperate with the industry to promote Hong Kong’s economic growth as well as the industry’s development.”
Established in 1980, the HKEIA is committed to serving the electronics industry in Hong Kong, facilitating technological development and business expansion of its members. The objectives of the HKEIA are to promote the development of the local electronics industry and explore opportunities for the industry, convey the views of the electronics industry to the Legislative Council, the government, domestic and overseas organizations, exchange industry information with its industry counterparts in different regions, as well as host and co-organize exhibitions, visits, seminars and other promotional activities related to the development of electronic commerce. The aim of these efforts is improving members’ professionalism, promoting professional education and participating in charitable activities as a way to fulfill corporate social responsibility, as well as providing industry updates and data analysis.

To celebrate its 30th anniversary, Hong Kong Electronics Industry Council has published Hong Kong Electronics Industry’s Steady March Forward (Review and Outlook), documenting the development of the Hong Kong electronics industry since the 1950s. The book also features sharing of industry leaders, government officials and representatives from renowned organizations, including that of Dr. C. H. Ng, on their experiences and views on the industry look.
